Description

The program focuses on the practical skills an attorney needs to proceed in a contested hearing or trial in a fair housing case. Particular emphasis is place on trial advocacy techniques used in the direct and cross examination of witnesses, opening statements, and closing arguments. Each participant receives the case study material prior to the program and, along with another attorney, is assigned a client to represent. Participants are divided by their experience into small groups, where they are instructed by, and present their cases before, judges and attorneys.

This year participants will work on a new problem that involves intentional discrimination based on disability disparate impact, and reasonable accommodations and modifications.
The training is useful both for attorneys new to practice and the more experienced attorney who is seeking assistance in litigating fair housing cases. Therefore, both experienced and inexperienced attorneys will benefit from the program.
